Open Hearts. Healthy Minds.
At RYC, we elevate and prioritize the importance of mental well-being.
Mental and physical well-being are equally important. Our youth need both to be their strongest, healthiest selves. We advocate to keep mental well-being top of mind, and achievable for our youth. Rye Youth Council (RYC) provides comprehensive Mental Health education, programs, youth counseling, and parent support to address the increasing need for care and resources for youth and families.
Your support directly impacts our ability to deliver and expand these efforts, including:
- RYC RESTORE - affordable mental health therapy for kids ages 5-22. RESTORE clinicians have provided more than 800 individual counseling sessions to 95 youth in our community.
- Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Depression Awareness and Suicide Prevention initiative at Rye High School and Rye Middle School -- resulting in students recognizing the signs of a friend in distress, and increasing their knowledge about how to seek help at school. This year RYC helped launch P2P in Edgemont Junior-Senior High School.
- RYC Parent Support Groups - connection, support, and guidance to parents whose kids struggle with depression, anxiety, and other social, emotional, and behavioral health challenges
- Adult Certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid, to learn to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in our youth, and connect kids to appropriate care.
- Student-Athlete Mental Health team workshops, to educate teens and coaches about the increased rates of anxiety, depression, and disordered eating among athletes and offer strategies to cope and thrive.
We need your financial support to provide these services and support the mental well-being of our children, teens, and young adults. Please support Rye Youth Council by donating today!
Peace, health, and happiness to you and yours.
